The Centre for disability studies
The Centre for disability studies is a research institute located within the Social Science Research Institute in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Iceland.
It was formally established on 3 March 2006. The Centre for Disability Studies established an interdisciplinary forum for research in the field of disability education, but the Center was the first institution in this field of study in Iceland.
There, permanent teachers work in disability education, promoters, postdoctoral students and students in MA and doctoral studies, the latter being given the opportunity to gain experience and training in scientific work methods. Foreign doctorates and doctoral students have sought and obtained research facilities at the site with foreign grants, but the activities of the center are well known outside the country.
